Dearest friends,
As we approach the feast day of St. Boniface (June 5), I would like you to reflect on his inspiring life and how his example can guide us in living a good Christian life (as so many of the saints do).
Born around 675 in Wessex, England, Boniface dedicated his life to spreading the Gospel, earning the title “Apostle to the Germans.” His courage, faith, and missionary zeal offer huge lessons for us today.
Saint Boniface’s unwavering commitment to Christ teaches us the importance of boldness in faith. He fearlessly shared the Good News, even in hostile lands, reminding us to proclaim our beliefs with love and conviction, whether through words or actions.
His life encourages us to step out of our comfort zones, sharing God’s love with those around us, from neighbours to strangers, or to those who have perhaps walked away from church.
Boniface also exemplified humility and obedience. As a monk, priest, and later bishop, he submitted to God’s will, trusting in divine guidance.
We, too, are called to listen for God’s voice in prayer and Scripture, trying to align our lives with His purpose.
His perseverance, even in the face of martyrdom in 754, inspires us to remain steadfast in trials, trusting that God’s grace sustains us.
This week, let’s emulate St. Boniface by living with purpose and charity.
May we, like him, root our lives in Christ, serving others with compassion and courage.
Join us for a special service on his feast day to celebrate his legacy and renew our commitment to a vibrant Christian life in the guild chapel at St. John’s.

Cheese & Wine
On Friday (30th) we gather for an evening of fine cheese, finer wine, and even finer ‘home grown’ entertainment! Join us at 7pm at St. Luke’s for a lovely evening of fellowship.
BCP Choir
The Newton Abbot Parishes and St. John’s are uniting to build a new evensong choir. Our first rehearsal will be on the 19th June and the 3rd Thursday of every month thereafter at 7pm in St. John’s. We’ll start with a very simple setting that we can then sing on the Sunday (22nd June) and then start to practice simple Anthems and so forth.
