Dearest friends, The man who questions Jesus in this Sunday’s Gospel asks for one commandment. Jesus gives him two. Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and love your neighbour as yourself. Asked to identify the greatest commandment, Jesus makes sure we don’t leave our neighbour out of the answer. That’s worth sitting with. Dearest friends, On Monday, 12 October, we keep the feast of St Wilfrid, Bishop and Missionary. Together with St Hilda, he is patron of The Society, to which both St John’s and St Luke’s belong. Our parishes have passed resolutions making provision for episcopal oversight within the Catholic tradition of the Church of England.
