If someone you know and love has died, a funeral led by a Church of England minister can be held in church, in a churchyard, by a graveside, or at a crematorium. The minister will be there to support you every step of the way.
We will hold your hand in this most difficult time and can help advise on all aspects of the services. But our help doesn’t stop there. If you arrange a funeral with either St. John’s or St. Luke’s we will visit before the funeral and also afterwards.
Both churches offer a sacred and calm space for your loved ones. They can be received into church the night before the funeral and rest in one of our chapels. Then on the day of the funeral the churches are open for as long as you need. We can also help with space for a wake afterwards.
If you’d like one of our ministers to help you arrange or to take a funeral of a loved one, either in church, at the crematorium, at the funeral directors chapel, or a the graveside – please do be in touch using the details on our contact us page.
The church of England has a dedicated website for those planning a funeral. It contains suggested readings, orders of service, and other practical tips to help. More importantly it contains prayers and suggested places for help as you step through this difficult time.
