News for 26th April & the week ahead

Dearest friends,

St Joseph the Worker is a quiet but compelling example of discipleship lived out in ordinary life. He is not remembered for preaching sermons or performing miracles, but for his faithfulness in daily work, his obedience to God, and his care for those entrusted to him.

Our world often measures worth by status or achievement. St. Joseph reminds us that holiness is found in the hidden and the humble. As a carpenter, he sanctified ordinary labour, showing that our daily tasks—however routine—can become offerings to God when done with love and integrity. Work is not merely a means to an end, but a participation in God’s creative purpose.

St. Joseph exemplifies faithful responsibility. He was entrusted with the care of Mary and Jesus, and he fulfilled this calling with tenderness and strength. In him we see that vocation is not about prominence, but about trust: God places us where we are needed, and asks us to be faithful there.

Through prayer, diligence, and trust, we can follow St. Joseph’s example, making our lives a humble offering and our work a witness to God’s grace.

In love,

Fr. Matthew
