Dearest friends,
Rejoice! What a wonderful Sunday we shared last week. Not only did we experience the love and joy of shared worship in the morning but we also launched our new church, Explorers, in Heathfield.
We were joined by 14 children who visited us from across Newton Abbot and Bovey Tracey.
We started with learning about Creation and the very beginnings of our life and universe before singing that great hymn ‘My God is So Big!’ complete with actions. We even managed to get the grown ups involved.
We made a wonderful collection of crafts with things for the children to take home and remind them of the love that God has for us and shows us through His creation.
If this is a taste of things to come we’re very fortunate indeed. Explorers, combined with Evensong are two areas of growth for us – they’ve both called new people to our communities and I pray they continue to grow and encourage. We’ll be looking at how we can better advertise both of those services in the new year.
Whilst we’re on that subject, don’t forget that next week +Paul is with us. He’ll be celebrating St. Luke’s Patronal Festival and joining us for the bring and share meal afterwards; then he’ll lead Evensong before spending time with us as we look to the future of the two parishes.
The archdeacon will be joining us as will Fr. Robin. There’s lots to talk about and lots to dream about. Let’s do that together and see what we can do to make those dreams happen.
We meet at 4pm in St. John’s for Evensong before moving to Wickham Hall for the rest of the evening.
If you’d like to join our new Evensong Choir there is rehearsal at 7pm on the 16th (Thursday) ahead of our service with +Paul. If you’ve never sung before and you’d like to have a go… here’s your chance! We have the amazing Wensleigh and Jackie alongside Stephen Cox who will help guide you and mould you into a beautiful choir.
With all my love,
Fr. Matthew
