Nine Lessons & Carols
The first Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was held on Christmas Eve 1918 at Kings College, Cambridge. It was planned by Eric Milner-White, who at the age of thirty-four had just been appointed Dean of King’s after experience as an army chaplain which had convinced him that the Church of England needed more imaginative worship. St. John’s PCC Meeting
The PCC takes the lead in carrying out the mission of the church – the whole church. Working alongside and supporting the clergy, pastoral care, telling the story of faith, social action and co-operation with churches of other denominations all fall within its remit. On the 5th Sunday of the month we join together for a beautiful mass. We swap churches each time so that we have an opportunity to get to know one another and how we may worship slightly differently.
