Nine Lessons & Carols

The first Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was held on Christmas Eve 1918 at Kings College, Cambridge. It was planned by Eric Milner-White, who at the age of thirty-four had just been appointed Dean of King’s after experience as an army chaplain which had convinced him that the Church of England needed more imaginative worship. Team Evening Prayer

A service of Evening Prayer using the Book of Common Prayer. An Act of Remembrance will be offered before the Mass outside at the Cross. Sunday Mass at St. Luke’s is a joyful and loud affair! Organ led music and singing, incense, bells, and vestments. St. John’s PCC Meeting

The PCC takes the lead in carrying out the mission of the church – the whole church. Working alongside and supporting the clergy, pastoral care, telling the story of faith, social action and co-operation with churches of other denominations all fall within its remit. SLSJ Joint Mass

On the 5th Sunday of the month we join together for a beautiful mass. We swap churches each time so that we have an opportunity to get to know one another and how we may worship slightly differently.
